It was left largely to the discretion of provincial Governments to recruit and exercise control over their Services, as they thought proper. As a result of the discretionary powers left to provincial Government, the Government of Madras and Punjab proposed to set up their Public Service Commissions.

Articles 316 to 319 deal with the structure of State Public Service Commissions. Tamil-Nadu Public Service Commission is headed by the Chairman and comprises of fourteen other members, all appointed by the Governor of Tamil Nadu, in accordance with the above provisions of the Constitution of India. Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has to discharge the duties & functions as specified in various Articles of the Constitution of India.

Note

  1. Two types of question papers will be set. One type of question paper will contain questions on General Studies (75 items), Aptitude and Mental Ability Test (25 items) and General English (100 items). The other will contain questions on General Studies (75 items), Aptitude and Mental Ability Test (25 items) and General Tamil (100 items). Candidates are given the option to choose either General Tamil or General English for answering the second 100 items apart from answering the first (75+25)100 items on General Studies.
  2. The questions on General Studies will be in both English and Tamil and the questions on General Tamil/ General English will be set in the respective languages.

Note

  1. The question paper will contain Part-A and Part-B as mentioned above and will be set both in Tamil and in English.
  2. The questions on Essay in Part-B will be as follows. a) Current issues at National level (One question has to be answered out of Two questions) b) Current issues at State level (One question has to be answered out of Two questions)
  3. In respect of questions on Essay in Descriptive type, candidates are allowed to answer the questions either wholy in Tamil or wholy in English. Selection Process of Non Technical and Technical Posts:

The Ministry of Railways and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts written exam to fill various Non Technical and Technical posts. The tests are designed according to the educational standards required for the post. For some categories, written test may be followed by interview and for others a skill test or psychological test may also be conducted as required by the posts Job profile. All questions are multiple-choice objective type.

More than one written test may be conducted (Preliminary and mains exam) if the number of applicants is large. Written test includes questions on Arithmetical Aptitude, General responsiveness, and General English. Questions on logical and analytical reasoning will also be included in the examination. English will be the only mode of instruction for the Technical Cadre exam.

Eligibility for SSC Exams

  • Graduate Level Examination- Graduation or equivalent in any other discipline.
  • Combined Matric Level Examination- Matriculation.
  • Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination- 12th class passed or equivalent
  • The general age limit for appearing SSC examination is 18 to 27 years (relaxation in age is available for reserved candidates).
  • The educational qualification depends on different posts that generally vary from 10th class to graduation level.

Application process for SSC Exams

The SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination notifications revealed on yearly basis in the month of October in employment new or in some of the other newspapers of India. The candidates who have qualified in the preliminary examination, they have to appear in the main examination afterwards. The qualified candidates of main examination will be have to appear for an interview OR physical efficiency test.

The qualified candidates of Matric Level Main Examination have to clear a skill test of stenography. There are some examinations which held separate and no preliminary examination is needed such as Section Officers, Investigation etc.
